I’ve learned that I can, and I should, trust in God even in the smallest things—yes, even something as ordinary as taking a right turn on a busy road.

I live in Australia, where we drive on the left side of the road. I’ll be honest—I’m a very nervous driver and tend to avoid driving unless I have to. But every morning, I drive my kids to school. We live in a suburb quite close to the city, which means the roads are usually busy.

There’s one route I always avoid. It involves taking a right turn from a main road onto the road that leads to our neighbourhood. The vehicles driving from the south go straight through that junction, and during peak hours, it’s packed with traffic. Since there are no traffic lights, anyone wanting to turn right has to wait for the smallest break in oncoming traffic. I usually avoid this because I’m afraid of making that turn when cars are rushing towards me.

This morning, however, my usual route was completely jammed. I had no choice but to take the dreaded right turn route. As I approached the junction, my nerves started to rise. I watched the cars ahead of me make their turns, squeezing into the tiny gaps between speeding vehicles. The Amen app was playing the rosary in my car, so I began to pray.

I felt a little silly asking God for help with something as small as this. But I whispered, “God, take me through this safely.” A quiet voice inside me said, Leave it in the hands of God. So I decided to do just that and prayed, “Jesus, I trust in You.”

One by one, the cars in front of me took their turns. When there was just one car left ahead of me, the fear crept back. I wasn’t just worried about crashing—I was worried that the drivers behind me would honk if I hesitated. That’s one of my weaknesses: I get embarrassed about little things like that.

Then, something unexpected happened. As the car in front of me began to turn, I noticed that the oncoming traffic from the bridge suddenly cleared. Completely. Not a single vehicle was approaching from the north. I blinked to make sure I was seeing it right—it was true. The road was clear.

I followed the car ahead and made my turn easily, without rushing or panic. Right in that moment, I knew—it was God who cleared the way for me. God who understood my fear, my weakness, and who gently made my path.

I thanked Him immediately and kept thanking Him until I reached home.

That moment opened my eyes to the truth: God does wonders when you trust Him, even in the smallest, everyday moments. If He can help me make a right turn, He can surely guide me through anything.

He will make your way. Just trust in Him.
